I've recently decided to try to make my own graphics, icons, etc but unfortunately I'm completely clueless how to start. Would anyone be able to suggest a program ( Photoshop or others) that would be easy for a beginner to graphic making like me to learn? Perferably one that isnt too expensive. Any available tutorials would be nice as well.

Oh, I also wanted to say that I use Pixlr quite often to do things that are hard to do in Paint.NET.

Are there any simple tutorials for icon making using Pixlr. It seems as if it should be easy to do but I don't know where to begin.
