This might be a stupid question, but there is a layout that I like but the maker is no longer active. I read some place that if you 'View Source' it's supposed to work. But what exactly am I looking for in all of that coding?

It also depends on whether it's S1 or S2 because S1 could have extra coding that could be harder to discern from the view source, but you're looking for stylesheet, i.e. everything in the <style> tags. There's usually more than one and generally, with layouts, you want the last one.
