Drop Caps in Tables: Can It Be Done?
The title says it all. I'm looking for a way to format a paragraph of text in a table to have drop caps. I'm just not sure it can be done, since most of what I see in my Firefox searching has to do with CSS, and I don't want everything I type up to have drop caps when I start a new paragraph or type up a new entry.

You can do a drop-cap-like effect using inline CSS, if that's what you mean? Like, you don't need an external stylesheet -- you can just code each individual letter that you want dropped. Use < span style="float: left; font-size: 34px; line-height: 30px; padding-right: 3px;" >, with whatever values you need to put in for the font size and line height depending on what size your text is and what your line spacing is, etc. You'll probably have to fuss with it a lot, but this is what mine looks like (with Georgia, size 10.5px, line height 15 px).

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Vivamus non facilisis mauris. Aenean lacinia pretium tortor accumsan consectetur. Aliquam ultricies lacus sit amet augue scelerisque dignissim. In sit amet orci at dui feugiat semper. Sed tempor dignissim libero.

Haha, I'm glad you like it! You asked at just the right time -- I've been coding a mockup of a Vanity Fair article, and they use these drop-caps all over the place. So I had my coding handy, anyway. :)

Well, here's the post I'm using it in. I'm designing this character for a psl. Also, do you think it would look better if it were in two columns?

It looks good as it is, I think! IMO, it looks pretty elegant all vertical and one-columned like that. :)

Thank you very much! The more I make these journals (I swear, I've got thousands of them) the better I get at formatting them. I wanted to make something really classy, and while there's nothing more classy and elegant than black and white, I think it needs a little splash of color somewhere.
