3. The first hot topic of debate?
So what, exactly,
is
going on with those "eyebrow cut" icons? And what about the increasing claims and vents that applicants are being rejected because they don't have them? What does it all mean?
Discuss. Be nice. Have at it...

I have a couple myself but they're cropped that way because of the focus of the picture. I find it ridiculous that someone's acceptance to a commnity should be based on their graphics or layout; some of the best roleplayers I've ever encountered have had basic layouts and blurry icons. To my mind, it doesn't make a difference. If a community rejected someone for the quality of their icons or not having the 'eyebrow cut' thing, then it just shows how pathetic and shady the mods are, in my opinion.

I agree with the above, I find it in a way discriminating to go off ones graphics. I know quite a few people in RP that cant even make graphics and such. So to hold someone against it, or reject them for it is unfair in my opinion. As for the eyebrow cuts, I dont understand those that do use those or do make them, I personally dont. But to each their own.

Icons aren't everything. I like a variety of different styles. The eyebrow cuts are annoying and I don't really see why anyone would like all their icons to be like that. But it has nothing to do with if you're a good RP-er or not.

I thought RP was about the writing and the art of storytelling. I missed the memo on brow cut icons being the reason for great RPing.

I still don't understand this. I crop pics to make them look flattering, for an expression and so people can tell who my person is.
The eyebrow cut thing, omg you have BODERS how 2000--all that...it's so silly. How about let's write?
Even though, I have fun making icons.

I don't care what someones icons look like, as long as they aren't completely distorted because who wants to look at something grainy/blurry beyond recognition. And the idea of people being rejected from games because of it is ridiculous. It also makes me wonder if that is actually the reason or just the assumption of the player to deal with rejection.
I never understood eyebrow cropping but I have to admit I've gotten into the style, although I usually crop just above them. Personally I find the icon comes off as unbalanced when I can see the top of someones head, I have no idea why.

What is eyebrow cropping? I guess I missed that memo as well. And why does it matter? I don't understand all the fuss over icons and such.

I think it looks retarded, tbh. Its like WHAT THE FUCKS WITH THAT, BRO. WHERE'S YOUR FOREHEAD AT. I've applied at a place and been challenged many times. Characters already there ALWAYS go and comment the "elitists" journal and not mine. Just because my characters have foreheads doesn't mean I'm not a bad role player. It just means, I don't dig that look of an icon. For some characters, I have it cut a little above the eyebrows because the icon looks alright that way with a certain picture or if I'm playing Travis Clark because he's got a big forehead~
But I don't like the fact people won't talk to you/comment/give home options because you don't have that type of icon.
