Re: TWD: graham + clem
Jake could hate them all he wanted, sure, but him telling people he had no place to stay wasn't true; staying with a man he didn't know out of spite made no sense. Graham would keep his distance if that was what the boy wanted, but he had options. Had places go. The whole world wasn't against him. Maybe it felt that way but he had people who cared, yeah? Hell, Clem would do just about anything he wanted. Sooner or later, though, Jake would realize he had no reason to be mad at his aunt and he'd go putting all his anger back on his father. "Okay," he agreed. Not like he had much to offer, he still needed a damn job. Marvel, Gotham, didn't matter. Being a cop wasn't going to happen but maybe he could do security or something like it. Could look out for people who needed it, even though that might not pay so well. He'd figure it out.
More guilt stirred in his belly when she said she'd been miserable on her own, but he smiled some when she said they were terrible about hinting. "Real miracle," he said dryly. "If we ain't imposing, sure." He felt sure he could speak for Shane on this one. As for loving, right then it seemed more pain than anything. Just a whole lot of hurt and loss, but if he thought back, back, that wasn't true. Hadn't always been that way. "Maybe," he shrugged. "Wouldn't change it. Just wish it didn't hurt so much, is all."
