Re: TWD: graham + clem
Clem didn't think there was a thing wrong with being spoiled as could be, but wasn't any point shooting off your nose to spite your face. Not going to stay in a warm house, and sleeping in some store with a man he barely knew, that was the wrong kind of spoiled. Best to take the place and be spoiled while warm. Boy could hate them all where she could feel sure he was safe some. Not that she didn't think Jack was safe, because she trusted that man the same way she trusted anyone who'd been in that locker with them in zombies a year back. But Jack didn't love the boy, and Jake needed to be growing up now. Time to look at his options and pick the best damn one for his ownself, instead of doing whatever the heck this was he was doing.
"Not sure he'll listen, honey, but won't hurt a thing to try. Boy's already fussed at me," she said. That had hurt for a real good spell, but like everything else in here, it wasn't near as important.
His surprise at her offer made her chuckle some, and she adjusted her arm in the makeshift sling as she looked over at him. "Was miserable as could be on my own. No point in pretending I wasn't. Easier than trying to hint at Shane to come over all hours. That man's real terrible about hinting. It's a wonder either of you ever got women. Anyway, more folks in a house is better. I'll even tolerate all Shane's lovers without making any of them cry too hard," she offered, real nice and polite as could be.
"Still ain't sure about that whole loving thing, but just on account of it not being for me, that don't mean it wasn't for you and Lore." She smiled down at the brush of his fingers, because at least they weren't hollering at each other any. Not that hollering didn't have benefits some. "Think you had something the rest of us don't get, on account of loving too much. Means it hurts worse after, but bet you wouldn't change having it to spare yourself the pain. That's the kind of thing I do, honey, but not you." She wasn't sure she believed in any damn thing after this living, but it wouldn't help him to hear.
