Re: TWD: graham + clem
"No point fussing over things can't be changed," she said, easy as pie. She wasn't made for guilt. She didn't feel a whole lot of it, despite there being plenty of things she wouldn't mind changing in her past. But no point fixing on things, and maybe she'd forgot that out there. Or maybe she'd just let her feelings get all mixed up to the point where she plain stopped demanding things she needed, and men were fools, and hell if they'd ever figure a thing out on their owns. Shane told her plenty of times to talk plain, and she'd forgot a long while, until he'd got to hounding her about it constant.
But the mention of a dead brother, that was real troubling. "Telling him once we're out of here's best. Can't do a thing from here, and it might get his head on all wrong." Which wouldn't do anyone any good. But she was real glad it wasn't her job to do that telling. Shane loved his family, but she knew the man didn't see much of them. She figured it came from spending all his time with Graham, and barely knowing his own kin some.
"He's acting like me and my momma, spoiled as can be. If he wanted to go inheriting something from my folks, well, that wasn't the best thing. Figure he might listen, and I got enough money to get him someplace if he'd rather, or to get you and Shane something else if you don't want to come over where I'm at." She said it simple, and no expectations like in that diner over pancakes. She smiled some. "Jack's a good man, and I don't think he'd mind any, but he said something 'bout the woman he lives with getting aged down some. Sounds like he's in a real rough spot."
"Weren't ready to hear it, sugar. Means you loved her plenty. Ain't all bad." She squeezed his fingers once more, and then she let go. "Sorry she couldn't stay for you." She meant it. She didn't want her sister hanging 'round, but she figured he was happy as could be to have her back, however brief it had been.
