Quicklog: Doctor & Rose
[Christmas was looming on the horizon, and while he and Martha joked about it, the Doctor was too savvy and world weary not to side eye the date a bit. Maybe the future would prove that history didn't matter much, it rarely did that, but it could happen. At the same time he wanted to take the chance to get a break with Rose. In theory getting all his people together to have adventures was entertaining, and it was that, but he no longer took all his time with Rose for granted. When they were traveling before, he didn't let himself think about what would happen when they stopped. And now they didn't have to. So he whisked her away on a surprise.

Rose liked dressing up, he remembered that, and historical meetings. He thought for sure that she'd enjoy the Elizabethan ear, he told Martha as much, so now was his turn to make up for lost chances. The TARDIS shook and hummed as it moved to the right date, and the Doctor grinned ear from ear at her as it came to a stop.] How would you like to see a play by Shakespeare live? [Maybe they could meet the man himself, if he was around, the Doctor would make sure once they got there. But at the least the visit itself would be fun.] You know where the dresses are. Unless you'd like a toga? Romans? Nah, not there, terribly rude to women. [Donna was not impressed.] Sistine Chapel? You name it and we'll go there.

[Like most anyone, Rose loved Christmas. Oh, she wasn't that naive girl any longer; she knew anything could happen. Literally, anything. But she was more prepared for it now than she had been before, she felt ready to face whatever the holidays might bring. And she wasn't alone, she had the Doctor, and his other companions, none of whom she minded traveling with. It felt good to be back in the TARDIS, no longer hopping from dimension to dimension hoping to find the right one. Like old times, almost.

But this, just the two of them? It was just like old times.

She was happy to go anywhere, really, and she grinned right back at him. This, traveling through time and space, was better than any present. So many options; she laughed.] No togas. I won't say no to a dress. [She made a thoughtful sound.] A play might be nice.

[He rarely traveled with more than one or two Companions at a time, mostly because the more people there were the more trouble they could get into. Then again the times they all banded together was when they saved the world the best, so there was that. The Doctor loved wonder and he loved brilliance, so he surrounded himself with it. It was good to get back to that, instead of the dark place he ended up, saying goodbye to Wilf and this version of himself. It ended up in such a dark place, and he thought it was in no small part due to Rose Tyler being out of his life.]

No togas? But they're so easy. You just fling the cloth around over an arm, done. [The Doctor rarely if ever stepped outside of his own skinny suits, he just walked the worlds he went to with his own sense of style, although he encouraged everyone else to look more accurate. Besides any excuse to put her into a gown he'd take.] What's your favorite? I can set it to just about then, probably, though for awhile there you could throw a dart at any English playhouse and one of his would be playing. He was a bit like the Beatles that way.
