Who: Rydia [narrative] What: Contemplation Where: Village of Mist in the Final Fantasy door When: Recent Warnings/Rating: Nah.
Now that she had been here for a couple weeks, Rydia had a better sense of where she was and what was going on. It helped that she had access to seeing what everyone else stuck in the hotel behind the various doors was writing (well, so long as they were public entries, anyway), and the questions that had been posed by other new people and answered by those who had been around longer had been more helpful in understanding their present predicament. These "doors" were from multiple universes and various times, which did explain why the villagers who had been so familiar to her had suddenly been a lot older--those who had been babies in her time were now adolescents, the children were teenagers, and the teenagers were starting families of their own. What she couldn't figure out is why they were referencing the other moon, or any other various newsworthy events she had not yet lived through. Fortunately, none of them seemed too bothered by her not remembering, which meant they either suspected she had a touch of amnesia or that she was better at covering than she thought.
Seated in front of the fire, she mused quietly. She hadn't heard anything from or about Cecil or Rosa in Baron, or Edward in Damcyan, or Yang in Fabul, or Edge in Eblan. The others were still a concern (when was the last time anyone heard anything from or about Kain?), but perhaps less so than the fact that the kings and queens of the world were mysteriously gone, and no one seemed altogether worried about it. She dropped her chin in her hand. Why was that? Shouldn't that be something that, you know, terrified people?
Though she hadn't actually left the village, the few visitors they had--merchants, mostly--spoke about strange sightings. Some sort of flying airship like none have ever seen was flying around the world. Wasn't that curious...? Was that the reason for the earthquake a little bit back? Was this strange airship emerging from the ocean like the Lunar Whale...? But, there was also the matter of the strange new people that were cropping up here and there...
"Rydia!" called a high-pitched voice. She shook herself from her reverie and offered a smile as the trio of children burst into her home. She rarely found a reason to lock her door when she was home, and it had been established a long time ago that villagers were allowed to come and go as they pleased. Besides, if anyone entered with intentions of ill will, well...she had Bahamut under her command. That was usually enough of a deterrent. "Come play with us!"
Perhaps a distraction was just what she needed. Offering a smile, she stood. "I'll be right there." Turning toward the fire, she waved a hand, extinguishing it easily with a Blizzard spell. With that done, she moved to follow the children outside.
