Re: quicklog: doctor/rose
[The Doctor had been alive for a long time. Longer than most people guessed, but shorter maybe than they theorized. Time Lords didn't have the benefit of forgetting, the way a load of memories could mesh together, and a few of the details fell by the way side. After centuries, people thought it would get easier, or time would seem to pass quicker, but it never did. So every day he spent with someone was a lifetime, when he put it down to the minutes, to the seconds. He tried not to do that, because it hurt. He did it once Rose was gone. Every second, stretched out. Rose Tyler. She brought him from the brink of insanity, and he told her he would never leave her behind, not like the others.
She was never like the others.
So leaving her on that beach, he tried to let it be. She got the life she wanted, wasn't that what everyone wanted for the person they loved? He walked away and he lost Donna and he lost Rose and he lost himself, really. Which would explain why her voice could crackle through his ears and into his body and make him feel brand new. Like he was when he regenerated and he saw her with these eyes for the first time.
The Doctor tried to play it cool.
It lasted ten seconds.
He immediately grinned right back at her, all teeth, and he couldn't think of anything clever to say. Instead the Doctor made the move toward her, hugging, he loved the hugging, and swept her into his arms. He wanted to laugh and cry and possibly live there in that second for the next decade, if that was possible. Rose Tyler. On his Earth.] Rose. [He'd been about to die, and now he was with her, so maybe he did, and that was fine. That was just fine.] Looks like we're in trouble again.
