[Being as good-humored as he was, and knowing Arthur as he did, the elder Potter didn't think about anything he said lending itself to offense. It was all fun, bit of elbowing and laughing, but nothing meant with any malice. But James didn't have time to agree with the girl, catching as he did that fleeting look on her face the bespoke to worry and wonder—was she alone? (Because, although he could be quite oblivious, James was not insensitive to others.)
