Bruce didn't actually go in to see Iris. He hovered in the background, ensuring things went smoothly, more of an unseen presence than actually present. Part of him blamed himself, of course. And at the same time the note attached to the bat signal was yet another reminder that too many people knew who he was here; Batman was Bruce Wayne, not a nameless symbol as he'd intended. He lamented the loss of that but there was little he could do to change it now. No matter what he did, no matter who wore the cowl in his stead, he would always be Batman. Perhaps there was no escaping that.
The problem was that he didn't want it to seem like he was taking away everything Dick had done while he was gone, stripping him of his importance and pushing him aside. That wasn't it at all. He didn't want some battle for the cowl. He wanted to remember why he'd become Batman in the first place, and he wanted to be able to work as a team, something they'd struggled with before, instead of constantly fighting about every little thing.
But first thing first, he needed to get out of this hospital.
Iris was stable, and he thought about contacting Selina, letting her know he wouldn't be home right away; the thought made him laugh. He'd become domestic if he wasn't careful. He headed outside, in jeans and a black shirt instead of a suit, and spotted Dick's car almost immediately. Of course. He approached the passenger side door, trying not to smile, and leaned down. "You haven't been waiting long, have you?"
