Who: Dick Grayson and Bruce Wayne
What: Male bonding?
Where: First the hospital in a car, then Dick's Wayne Tower Basement Batcave Headquarters of Awesome (DWTBBH)
When: After he picks Bruce up from the hospital that Iris was taken to.
Dick responding to the Bat signal was nothing new, but his surprise when he saw a note on the damn thing that clearly wasn't for him was a stark reminder that no one actually thought about Batman as the symbol it was supposed to be, but the man that was behind it. And that was okay - he understood that in this place things had to be different. It didn't eat and gnaw at him like it might have two years ago. It didn't eat at him like he knew it would have back in his version of Gotham. Then again - this wouldn't have happened back in his version of Gotham.
He had found peace in the differences, and a cadence to what he was doing. Bruce was back, and his knee jerk reaction was to step away and let him do what he needed. The other part was that he was being pressured not to step aside, to fight for what he'd worked for and to own it. The problem was he didn't own it, he was always the relief pitcher. He'd always been the relief pitcher and he knew that. It was just a matter of coming to peace with it (which he had), and getting the others to do it (which was harder).
Dick Grayson liked nice cars, and nice motorcycles. And he was driving one such nice car, a 1967 Shelby Cobra mustang in dark metallic blue with black racing stripes on the hood. He sat idling outside, listening to the police scanner (they did still have night jobs after all) and playing a game on his phone in which he was asked to match and crush candy, and he was fine with that as a time suck. He'd been asked to move his car four times, but the guard had been appeased by twenty bucks each time and the last time he'd come by he'd given him a downpayment on the next half hour, just in case.
