Log: Faol's Apartment: Selina/Faol

[The apartment was small, obviously suited for a single person (a man in this case) but decent with hardwood floors and plain walls, and possibly slightly above the price point where a man working at a comic shop should be able to afford. Ah well. He didn't start working at Enigma and Graves for the money. And as nice as the apartment was - ti was exceptionally spartan. There was a small table in the breakfast nook with two chairs, though having two people eat there would mean either very small plates or very close company.

The living room - or what seemed to be the living room - had only a third hand couch (and that might have been generous) that was clean but lumpy, and a TV that was a few years old but still a flat screen. Sitting on the couch was the aforementioned she-devil ninja spawn (or white cat to anyone else) meticulously cleaning herself. Down the hallway to the right was one closed door - and a blood trail (big, fat droplets) leading from the open bedroom door (the bedroom was bare except for the mattress and box spring sitting on the floor, covered with rumpled bedclothes dotted with crimson and a fresh yellow stain on one of the pillows) to a closed door that was likely the bathroom.

The bathroom Faol had barricaded himself into because while the cat had surprised him by using his balls as a good morning wake up trampoline, he hadn't shot the fucker in a show of incredible willpower as far as he was concerned. He hadn't done it either when the cat used his skin as traction to climb up his body, or pushed off him and left a bleeding (now sluggishly, he did attempt some first aid) gash down his forearm.

Really, why couldn't people have dogs?

And as soon as he heard movement in the small apartment:] Selina?

[Selina let herself inside.

It had been a very bad few weeks- No, it had been a very bad few months- No, it had been a very bad few years. But there was a slight smile on her lips at the moment. Lush, warm, a little entertained, and the thought of someone like Faol being brought low by a kitten? It warmed her through. She was proud of the furball, wherever it was, and she stepped into the apartment like she feared nothing.

Well, what was there to fear anymore?

Jeans, grey, and a slick coat in black, cinched waist and her hair loose, Selina looked around the space with dark-lined eyes. The white cat caught her attention first, which wasn't surprising, and Selina went to it and crouched. Oh, it stayed where it was. Of course it did. After all cats loved her.] Hello, gorgeous. Where's that little boy you scared? [Purr, and she looked up from scratching idle behind one furry ear.

Ah, fat droplets of blood. That way.

And then she heard his voice, and she stood from her crouch and smiled down at the cat.] Stay here. We don't want to scare him more than he is already.

[A chuckle, a sway of hips, and she made her way to the bathroom, talking as she went, voice slightly raised, ensuring he could hear her.] Eddie must pay well. I should think about applying.

[Yep, Selina. Not that he was particularly concerned - he didn't have anything worth stealing here, but he didn't want to have to fend off any would be attackers and the little ninja furball at the same time. It seemed to belong to someone, and even if the little fucker did make him bleed, he wanted to make sure it got back to them and not end up as a smear on his wall.

He was occasionally nice like that.

Of course, if the cat didn't have anyone, he happened to know someone that was good with cats. So much that her nickname had the word cat in it. Perfect solution.

Sighing, he rubbed his forehead against the painted wood of the door. Finally someone that could take care of the demon spawn.] Have you got it contained? [Then, as he finally grabbed his robe (no point in dressing when he was the only one that lived here) and tied it off around his waist - while keeping the door shut in case she didn't have the beast contained.] He pays well enough. Keeps me fed anyway. [Fed and took care of some of the bills. Everything else was handled through his stash.]

[If Selina wanted to steal from him? She wouldn't need an invitation. She leaned against the wall, beside that closed bathroom door, and she felt him press forehead to wood. She couldn't help but chuckle, because he was nearly fearless, a killer, and he was hiding from a kitten.

Said kitten had followed her, and was currently winding itself around Selina's shins, adoration and marking her with fur and scent, and Selina missed the days when she was surrounded by cats. Oh, she still picked up the odd stray, but she'd been too transient for any real digging in of claws, settling and making a home, and that was another one of things weighing heavy on her mind.

What came next?

But the man behind the door sighed, and Selina's attention snapped back to the room, to the present.] She's at my feet, and she promises not to attack you. [The cat had done no such thing, of course, but Selina had complete faith she could handle any altercation that might arise.]

I'll make sure to play salary hardball, you know, if I need a job in a comic book store at some point in the future. [She rapped once on the door with her knuckles, slow and lazy.] Come on out, hero.

I'd believe that more if she hadn't already dug her claws into my balls. [Wry, and full of the disbelief he felt. Still, he couldn't stay in here forever and he was pretty sure that she had some sort of secret Catwoman mojo that she could work to keep the hell beast at bay.] She's probably already delighted herself with licking my blood off them.

[One deep breath, two, and the door cracked open just enough for him to peer out but not enough to let the demon in.

The demon that was currently affectionately winding her body around Selina's shins.] Well. Fuck. [The she demon looked positively sweet now, but a twinge in his balls reminded him of what she'd done before. Caution. Always caution.

He cracked the door open a bit more, gaze shifting between woman and cat.] You should. I'm pretty sure Eddie is the push over, but Emily might push back. Go through him first. [A brief look upwards, head cocked as if thoughtful.] I didn't realize you two knew each other though - Gotham?

What did you do to make her attack your balls? Because I don't think cats are particularly drawn to the male genitals. [Selina sounded entertained. In a world full of nothing good, and with an increasing sense that she'd reached some invisible limit, she was entertained. It didn't happen often lately, and she let herself enjoy it. After all, there wasn't enough blood to indicate any real danger, and the cat? The cat seemed happy enough, purring against denim as Selina smiled down fondly.

The door opened, and Faol cursed, and Selina chuckled. Yes, this was nice. A tiny interlude, but a nice one. For once.

She scooped up the cat, cradled and scratched, a brow raised at the man that cracked the door open.] I won't let her eat you. Come on out. [She smiled when he talked about Eddie and Death - Emily.] Eddie and I go way, way, way back. Em, too. But I guess you could say that Eddie and I? We're thick as thieves. [Nose buried in the cat's fur now.]

Except that one is. [He said, pointing a finger at the white fluff ball that was acting half stoned on Selina's presence. Damn good decision to reach out to her.]

That's how I woke up. She used my balls as a trampoline - all claws out, and the rest of me as a jungle gym. She doesn't know how lucky she is to be alive. [A person that would have tried to do the same would have gotten shot. The cat? Not so much. He had no desire to add 'pet killer' to a long list of sins.

And even though the cat had done all that? He still smiled to see the little beast in her arms. It was definitely the right choice.] No, she'll just drain me drop by drop, Ms. Thick as Thieves with Eddie. [A playful tease.] And cats. She looks almost nice with you. [It didn't mean that he was coming any closer and his gaze continued to cycle back to those claws that he had no intention of ever meeting with again.]

[Selina rolled her eyes, her expression saying she was absolutely sure he was to blame for this sweet, sweet kitten's bad behavior.] You're exaggerating. Kittens don't like trampolines, and I doubt your balls are that bouncy.

[And the terror in question? Was purring and purring, Selina scratching behind its ears. She chuckled at the comment about Eddie, and she looked down at the kitten, watched as its eyes went slitted with happiness.] Eddie and I have know each other a very long time. You can ask him about me, if you want. I do love when people are curious about me. [As for the kitten?] Do you want me to return her? Have you complained to her owner yet?

But they do like balls. [Not necessarily his, but he was sure that if he had few balls of yarn, the kitten would be all over them.]

I'll ask then. [Not at length and probably not in detail - if only because they made him think more of interrogations than fact finding missions. As for her questions -] Yes and no, in that order. [But the latter was surely coming after he'd dealt with the immediate need to get out of his bathroom and to tame the Sithpuss. And now that they were, he frowned, head tilted to the side.] Did you call me Peter earlier?

So crass. [But her smile was genuine, warm and lush, and it didn't dim when he said he'd ask Eddie about her. Oh, the kitty cat liked limelight, and she liked notoriety. Not surprising, and you didn't select slinky black and cat ears if you didn't want to be noticed.]

Find me a meeting place, and I'll hand the kitty cat over. [She chuckled when he talked about the poor cat's owner, and she set the fuzzball down and reached into her coat when he mentioned the name - Peter. Out of her pocket, she withdrew his CIA and SHIELD badges, identification tucked alongside each one, and she held them out, palm open and brow quirked.]

[It was slink and cat ears that he learned about later - he learned first about the waning bride, starved of attention. Of course she loved it.

The drop of his smile only lasted a minute - long enough for him to see what she held - before he reached out to take his badges and ID back from her palm. That would explain why she called him by a name he hadn't used since he was in high school, back when he was bright eyed and pimply faced.] Thank you. [It was almost demure the way he said it, a fast roll of syllables over his tongue as he tucked his items back into one of the deep pockets of his robe.]

I can do that. [Like it was just that easy and it was - her taking the cat would be easier than him finding full body armor that could withstand those claws.] And thank you for this.

You're welcome. [There was a pause, a deliberate one, and a smile that matched, all lush and entertained.] Peter. [She watched the items disappear, and then she scooped up the cat and scratched at its scruff again. The furball purred, and Selina smiled, and she chuckled when he agreed he could find a meeting place, when he thanked her.] I couldn't leave you vulnerable at the claws of a ferocious cat, could I?

[She walked out of the room, back into the living room and with that entertained smile still on her lips. Not a bad interlude. Not bad at all.]
