[It takes five or six rings before he even wakes up to the phone buzzing in his back pocket, trapped beneath him where he's stretched out on one of the couches in the living room. His eyes go immediately to the spot where Sawyer is asleep in her bassinet a few feet away, socked feet kicking in slow motion while she dreams.

By the time he extracts the phone from his jeans and swipes to accept the call, he's managed to sit up a little on the couch and swing his feet over the side to rest on the floor. His voice is low and rumbly with sleep when he answers.] Hey. What's up?

[She's not moving fast, but it's obvious from the sounds that she's in the drug store. She thought this would be easier over the phone, but now she's not so sure. With a deep breath, all at once:] So we have to decide if... [She pauses, stopping in the aisle with paper plates and tissues.] I have a prescription. And it's supposed to be safe, so we can keep feeding Sawyer like we have been, or I can pick up some formula while I'm here. [It's a little rushed, and then she goes silent.]

[In that time, she's wandered around the drugstore. The doctor had called in her prescription, so she doesn't have to drop it off - just pick it up when she's ready. Standing in front of the formula and trying to say out loud the sorts of things she's been talking to Sam about...] Yeah. [Pause.] It's good. [Pause.] I mean, she's a few months old now, so formula should be fine. And it means that you won't have to ...rely on me because she needs to eat. It'll be good. It'll free things up for you.

[She doesn't reply to the first part because the second part catches her off-guard. Quiet for a bit, and then clearing her throat.] Yeah, I know that. [Not true. And after another second.] It's just we talked about it before she was born... [And now, that's the only thing she's actually been able to do for Bean. And if he's saying that she doesn't have to, then she's not doing anything.

And with her appointment and the prescription, with talking to Sam, and with talking to him, she's getting more and more turned around in her head.]
