[And now that they had her here, now that the Phoenix had finally arrived, the light gathered around tapered fingertips before it was flung outwards toward Jean.]

[Jean threw up an outstretched hand to create a telekinetic shield, expecting to brace herself for a blast from that scarlet light. She was wrong. The air around her grew thick and dense, weighing her down, making her movements feel as though she were underwater. It was even difficult to breathe.

Oh, but she knew the name. Jean was supposed to have an eidetic memory, and for the most part she did, but when she held memories from several beings inside her, they often got mixed up. Still the name itself screamed chaos inside of her, and Phoenix screeched.

Her hand fell, slow. Too slow. The flames of the cosmic force sprung up around Jean, Phoenix taking form as fiery wings spread through the room, raptor-sharp eyes piercing as the two beings spoke as one, Jean's voice bleeding into the edges of the universe. A warning. She didn't want to hurt Wanda.] Enough. Let her go, Chthon. Let her go, or be destroyed.

[None of this was unexpected: not the flare of recognition in her eyes, not the sudden presence of the fiery bird that lived within Jean's mind. The smile that split Wanda's face at the demand to release her was not a pleasant one.]

She's always been mine. Do you really think you can separate me from her? Do you think you're strong enough? [For years, he'd been preparing her, prepping her to be a vessel that could exist upon an earthly plane, and the loss of so many finally pushed her to the point where he could take full control.

He would not let go so easily. Not when he was so close. Not when Wanda's presence was fading, dying, forced to the edges to make way for him.] Why do you think you're so afraid? [Snarled out with another flare of red around their fingertips and the next bolt passed through those flaming wings, caught fire, and launched into the hallway.]

[Phoenix turned it's head upwards and screeched. Jean stared at the familiar form of Wanda, white hot flames reflecting her rage in what used to be emerald green eyes. The words echoed between the two beings, the infinite sound of the cosmos trailing behind every letter.] I know I can. I know I am. I am fire and life incarnate. [Slow. Still too slow as she floated into the air, arms stretched out to her sides, allowing herself to look down upon the other host in the room.]

I am a child of the universe. I am the nexus of all creation, and the flame that will burn it away. [Her telekinesis was sluggish, the jagged ice crystals echoing loud cracks through the room as she attempted to pull them from the floor.]

I am your judgement. And you, Chthon? You are obsolete. [The fire in the hallway was idle, the cosmic flames still under her control for the moment, but it was growing slowly as her attention was more focused on the woman in red before her.] I can feel her dying. I can feel her life ebbing from her. I can tear her body apart atom by atom, burn her into oblivion. Will she still be yours then? You are the one that should know fear.
