The voice had her head jerking upwards, following the sound until she saw those wild red curls. Jean. Something settled in her chest to see something familiar. Familiarity meant balance and balance when she was feeling so far unbalanced was a good thing.
"Its me." Lacking a bag, she started up the stairs slowly, her steps light on the well loved wood. "Have you been here for very long?" There was a hope that she hadn't been, if only because she suspected that they both had one universal truth: time alone here weakened both of them.
"I was thinking I would take up my old room, but we should find you one. I think the one next to mine isn't in use." It would be good to be close, but Jean might want to go back to her own former room, wherever that was.
