Jake had a speedster's reaction though. He wasn't as distracted as he used to be. It was highly unlikely that Eva would ever get seriously injured falling down a mountain. Jake probably wasn't particularly good at showing that, however, since of the two of them, he seemed to trip the most, but Jake was good at shaking off pain. His body, much like his mind, healed a lot faster. It had something to do with metabolism or something. He wasn't sure. His mother had explained it to him once.
Jake grinned at her. "Sure," he agreed. "Good thing we're not normal kids who can't get off the internet. We get to do all kinds of awesome things, like biking in mexico and camping out, away from the evil clutches of Wi-Fi." In truth, Jake hated the internet. He thought it was too slow. Sure, he could read text much faster than people talked - but the internet connection? It was slow enough to kill whatever draw the internet might have toward people. "We can bring smores. And. And a lot of other food too, because we can't possibly sustain ourselves on smores. Well," he shrugged, "we could try. That'd be fun."
