The offhand comment only encouraged her smile even more - it echoed exactly what she'd been thinking, and she was about to say so, when Jake was suddenly there, hugging her. There was a moment of surprise, followed quickly by one of uncomfortableness. It wasn't that she was uncomfortable with Jake hugging her - of anyone not related to her, Jake was probably one person who could hug her without making her uncomfortable. It was her scales that were making her uncomfortable. Jake never minded, and even though she thought her scales were rather ugly and mermaids were supposed to be beautiful, he'd called her a mermaid when when they'd met. She'd never forget. So after that split second of stiffening up, she wrapped her arms around Jake in return, and turned her face to the side a bit. The top of her head only reached his shoulder, really. She hadn't grown much, though her shape was more feminine than when they'd first met.
"I was thinking the same thing," she commented belatedly before pulling back a bit to smile up at him. Pause. "I, um, should go get into dry clothes. So should you, probably," she added. Though, she knew well enough he could just zip around the complex a few times and be dry in seconds.
