Eva listened quietly as Jake spoke. And spoke some more. And a bit more. All the while, the tremulous smile on her lips growing firmer, more assured. Eva liked to hear him pull these seemingly random things - things she imagined people thought he didn't know because they judged him to quickly for not paying attention - all together into a perfectly sound, and even powerful statement. He spoke better than he imagined; he didn't to think he'd forgotten his point, but she always thought he'd made it.
When he turned the question, she smiled without hesitation. "Yes, I would. Cuz everything you said is right." She paused a moment. It felt like a hugging moment. This was a hugging moment wasn't it? Instead, she let out a deep breath she hadn't known she'd been holding. Or maybe it was more like, she'd only breathed in while he was speaking, taking in his words, and had forgotten to breathe out.
Satisfied, she continued to smile, tucking some of her wet hair behind an ear, and continuing on. She should head to the locker rooms soon and get into dry clothes. Even here, people sometimes looked at her strangely, but only because they didn't recognize her like this. It didn't make her feel any less odd.
