Eva smiled at Jake's jest, tossing a towel at him while she picked up another for herself. Jake was one of the few people she was willing to train with if she planned on getting wet enough for her scales to come out. And the amount of water tossed around the training room here... Well, there were still puddles, and the sound of water splashing down the drains along the walls of the room was audible. As was the drip drip drip from the ceiling.
The brunette was breathing hard, and she was smiling for more than just Jake's joking. She knew they had trained hard, and they'd done good. He did have the edge with speed - she simply couldn't react fast enough. Which meant she'd had to try to out-think him, which was still quite the feat when he could react in a split second. But, she knew she'd at least made it difficult for him. "Yeah, well, you're hard to beat," she admitted. There was silence as she tried in vain to wipe enough water away that her scales would fade to skin. It would take a while. And dry clothes.
Looking up, the smile was replaced by a more serious expression. "I'm glad you've been training more than just your speed, though." Because it might not always be there. With power negating weaponry, or even another speedster, his speed wouldn't matter much. It wasn't the first time she'd expressed this particular sentiment. Watching him work on other skills - fighting, for instance - was pretty cool. Speed was so much a part of who he was, it didn't seem like it needed any sort of training. Plus, it was kind of badass watching him fight. Her stray thoughts made the heat creep into her cheeks, but she figured it was just a flush from working too hard.
"Have you thought about what you'll do for school next year?" Conversation with Jake, and with people in general, had gotten easier. There were fewer painful pauses as she thought over her words.
