It was night time and Selene was sitting in one of her favorite spots -- the balcony of her place. It was cool outside tonight and even though the view was beautiful, it wasn't as amazing as the view she wanted to see. She missed forests of the land beneath an open sky. A place where the only things you saw in the sky at night were the millions of stars and the moon. Her moon. Led across the sky by her chariot. She still drew the moon across the skies at night, but most people either didn't see it or they didn't look up to see it. Granted, she knew that there were still many places that loved her light and were thankful for what she did, but sometimes she missed having it witnessed and admired by people no matter where they were. The cities with the thousands and millions of lights were still so very pretty at night but sometimes she missed looking up and seeing the lights of the stars that were there since before she was brought into existence. She often wondered what the other gods who had been around longer than her and not in this area thought of the ever-changing sky. To be truthful, though, that wasn't what was weighing heavily on her mind. It was just what she was thinking about to distract herself from her real concerns. The Olympians were always on her mind, but even more so as of late. Eros had woken up. He had all of his memories now and while she was glad he remembered who he was, she was also concerned for his mental state. He hadn't been prepared for that, but then again, would anyone be prepared for such a thing? To find out he was cursed to be continuously reborn and die had to be a burden on the mind. She didn't doubt he would adjust and be just as strong as he had ever been, she was just worried about the things he might do before he got acclimated to his new reality. That brought up another concern. What would Kronos do once he realized that the Olympian gods were awakening? After all, if Eros was awake, that meant others of the Olympians would be awakening too, right? If the Titan leader found out about this before they were strong enough to protect themselves, who knew what the hell he would do. She had seen Hades announce himself on the internet, and while she was glad he had escaped his Underworld prison, she worried about what might happen to him here if he was unprepared for a new attack. An attack that would not be as straight forward as the attacks so long ago had been. The Titans and Olympians couldn't go into all-out warfare here in this day and age. They didn't want to attract the attention of the wrong kind of humans. Gods could survive much, but Selene didn't know if the type of massive firepower the humans had created in these modern times of warfare were among the things that they could survive. She didn't know and she didn't want to find out. She poured more wine into her glass and leaned back in her lounger. It annoyed her that her mind was filled with such worrying thoughts and concerns when it was such a beautiful night. |
