WHO: Cerberus and Persephone
WHEN: Starts 8/8 night, continues 8/9 evening.
WHERE: South Mountain Reservation, Maplewood, NJ
SUMMARY: Sometimes a Hellhound needs his Underworld!mom.
WARNINGS:
Muscles ached, thumping with every sluggish step forward. Fur and claws had disappeared hours ago but blood and dirt still remained. Nights had become cooler and cooler as the summer came to a close, though temperatures did not phase the naked body of the pup. "She doesn't trust us." "She never trusted us." "We are nothing like her and cannot keep on some leash. We need to eat." "There's nothing to trust when you can't understand the dark." "We wish it was how it use to be. Waking didn't take away the pain." Tears welled up in light blue eyes. "Which use to be?" "Any of them." "We don't want to give her up... but she tells us less and less. She needs to be with her own." "She doesn't have to worry about her mother now, at least." Cerberus wiped some of the blood off their arm in reaction. Exhaustion pulled at minds and body. They had never been able to keep their dire form for as long as they managed in their anger and hurt. Heart beat hard against the chest slowly. Stumbling over some branches they found themselves in front of a large tree root carving a den into the rocky mountain beside one of the small waterfalls on the reserve. Another stumble forward, Cerberus threw his body into the hole beneath the root and between the rocks that cried fresh water. It felt like home. A real home. No one would find them and they would have their dark cave. "...and Pheme could live in her light." Tears streamed down flush cheeks, too tired to hold them back or care to. Sweet, deep earth seeped into flared nostrils lulling the hellhound-human off to sleep. ~~~ Nightmares tormented the slumber, pushign and pulling at all sides of them. Waking up with a dark snarl, fingers curling into the ground like their claws had, Cerberus found one of Persephone's bats sitting on their shoulder, waiting. Rolling their eyes, they collapsed back down into their dirt cave. "We don't care..." They tried to brush the bat away, but it was determined. ~~~ With the bat gone, Cerberus stared out at the waterfall, chin on the back of their hands. They were unsure how long it had been since they woke up, but no one was speaking. |
