Leia was undeniably relieved when the battle was over and they were able to just walk back to the river settlement that had become their home. While she had never been one to shy away from conflict, and sometimes even thrived on it, that moment when it was over and the dust had settled enough to appreciate getting through it together, that was the part she lived for.
And she was incredibly glad that Han had felt strong enough to be by her side during it. There were few she trusted as much as the roguish smuggler who had stolen her heart. It had been hard to watch him go through the recovery of the carbon freeze, this one taking so much longer than it had at home without the bacta tanks they were used to. At least the physical side of things. She often wondered if they would ever be emotionally fully recovered from everything they had been through.
"Damn right no one messes with me," she smiled up at Han, reaching out to take his hand. "And you have to admit, sometimes those storm troopers practically lined up to be shot." Not the best tacticians out there.
"You can say it felt good, because it did." As they approached the hut that had become theirs, she paused to reach up to softly kiss his cheek. "I missed fighting next to you fly boy."
