"No, but you apparently don't know the first thing about listening," he replied, sounding vaguely put upon. "No, you're just disagreeing for the sake of it. Your behaviour is hardly the height of good manners."
He snorted. "Regardless of outfit, Doctor, I am always at hearts a CIA man. I'm perfectly aware of her unfortunate past with you."
He's both amused and puzzled by the remark. "Hate you? Hardly. I consider you a nuisance and pest, Doctor, hate is a far too powerful emotion." He hesitated, wondering briefly. Vansel occurred to him, but honestly, while he regretted his loss, he hardly placed the blame of it at the Doctor's feet. CIA agents got hurt and killed, regardless of seniority.
"I don't recall doubting Romana's love for her world," his voice was subdued, remembering just how she convinced him of it.
He let out a irritated sigh. "No, Doctor, it could not have 'just been the Rift', we went from one Gallifrey to another via the Axis, quite purposefully. I resent the implication that the Earth is the centre of the universe..."
He frowned at realisation of an incongruity. "In fact, why is there a powerful rift in time and space that would be capable of what you suggest, or indeed taking me off another universe's Gallifrey in the first place? Surely the CIA should take care of it?"
