Sirius stared at his enemy. He had spent the last hour trying to figure out what this was. It was another one of these painted metal boxes. But this time it was not so small like the computer. Actually, there were two of them. They looked similar: They both reached his hip and were about twenty inches wide. A round window on the front let you look into their insides which consisted of a big metal cylinder that was parallel to the ground. The strangest thing was that the cylinder had little holes. The thing that varied was the buttons. One of the boxes had more buttons then the other. But all he could make this things do, was that he cylinders started to move; they just started spinning and the cylinder of one of the boxes began to fill with water.
Sirius had found them in the small room behind the bathroom on the basement. And they made no sense to him. Wait, maybe they were modern cauldrons? He was thirty years in the future after all. You did not have to do this bloody wand stirring any more with them moving on their own. But wasn’t exactly the stirring crucial to making a potion? Shit, he should have paid more attention in school.
Nah, this cauldron was rubbish. It had holes. How good could a cauldron with holes be? Maybe it was broken. Sirius took out his wand and with the right movement and incantation the modern cauldron turned into one that he actually recognized as such. The other strange cauldron was transfigured into a stand for it. Now, you only needed a fire and everything was great.
Sirius smiled at his work. His roommates should thank him. Then another idea struck his mind. He should pay Teddy a visit. He climbed the stairs to his room. There were stains on his trousers from trying to climb into the cylinder. But Sirius did not care. The muggle clothes were good enough. He checked himself in the mirror (still smashing, Padfoot) and grabbed his jacket. Then he left his cabin. As the cool wind hit his face, he felt nervous. Would Teddy look like Moony? Would he be like Remus? And why the hell did Remus name him Teddy? That sounded like a cuddly toy. Sirius grinned but the nervousness still prickled his stomach. You did not meet your friend’s adult son every day.
Cabin number eighteen. Sirius was there. He stared at the door through the tips of his hair. He had even forgotten to ask who Teddy’s mother was. Most likely a quiet, book-loving girl. Sirius laughed. He looked at the door again and his laughter died. Only one way to find out, Padfoot. He banged at the door, using the side of his fist instead of the knuckles.
“Anyone there?” he bellowed. Sirius took a step back, listening for any sound coming out of the cabin.
