'Buffy,' Angel greeted as she came down the passage into view. How did he explain something like this? He was already beginning to regret asking to meet her. What if he went through with it and it didn't even work? Worse, what if he went through with it and it worked, but it somehow made things worse? He had no doubt that Buffy was more than capable of handling herself, but still...what if something were to happen and he was powerless to intervene? He couldn't bear the thought of being freed from his destiny and watching her still having to face hers. 'Um...' he faltered, wringing his hands with impatience as he paced the docks like a tiger trapped in a cage. This was one of those life-altering decision and because he placed great value on Buffy's opinion, at least on this matter, it was all the more nerve-wrecking that he did not know what to expect. He had been fighting for so long, it was hard to imagine what it would be like to just live. He hated it that he would not be able to do as much good as he wanted, but it didn't matter if that ended up being all for nothing because he was the big bad evil all along. At the same time, he didn't want this to be the easy way out. He didn't want to accept the cure because his judgement was clouded by his own desires. There was something very off about the idea that he would be rewarding himself with humanity for his evil deeds in the future, even if it was as a means to prevent them.
'What we talked about last time.' He finally came to a stand still. 'Our...destiny together. It's something that requires the both of us, right? If I'm out of the picture, then none of this has to come to pass?'
