Once again, Lily felt the thumping of 'if only' in the back of her mind. If only, if only. So many tiny, inconsequential things that could have changed lives. Saved lives. She squeezed his hand before releasing it, lifting her hand to stroke his hair back.
But then, she might not have appreciated it then as much as she did not ... but it still may have changed things. Perhaps it would have given her the nerve to say something about her budding feelings for him. Easing a little closer, she tipped her chin to claim his lips in a gentle kiss, breaking it after just a moment.
"So it's your turn," she prompted with a teasing smile. "If we were still playing," she added. If he wanted to just cuddle or nap or ... talk, she would be perfectly fine with her. "Or we could try that napping thing," she added with a gentle smile as she stroked his hair lightly, playfully tugging on a lock of it.
