He took Marian's outstretched hands as she reached his side, meeting her gaze as his smile grew. "You are beautiful." He mouthed the words to her just before Heather started speaking. Though he listened to the words, his eyes did not leave Marian.
That was, until she got to that last part, and his gaze shot to hers. What was she thinking, asking that? The surprise at that was lost though, when he heard the next voice that spoke. He didn't dare look at the other man. He knew that he could not. His hold on Marian's hands tightened as he looked down, pushing back everything that instinct was telling him to say. What right did he have to speak, let alone be here. It sickened him to think of Gisborne having any part in his wedding, regardless of what he had said. Finally, he looked back up and met Marian's gaze.
