Once they were in the kitchen, Arthur held Guinevere's chair for her and then threw together the best breakfast he could: toast with butter and strawberry jam, apple slices, and some cheese cubes (which he was also glad to find). A glass of orange juice to top it off, and he hoped it would do, although he was certain she could have done far better.
As they were eating, he said musingly, "I remember our conversations. That first conversation, especially." He gave her a small smile. "Thank you. The things you said to my younger self meant a lot to him. To me." It bothered him a bit that he had asked her about his mother, and he was as grateful that she had talked past that as he was that she had shown him so much support otherwise, but he could not figure out quite how to say that.
