Fergus had gone out with Johann. The dog was at least twice as big as Fergus, and Fergus could ride him like he was a pony. The dog seemed to like when Fergus climbed on his back, and he could run really fast and not double back to make sure the boy kept up.
Seeing the strange boy at the lake, with wings like a bird sprouted out from his back, Fergus nudged Johann the way he'd learned to do to make Johann slow down. He slid off Johann's back, and wobled over to the strange looking boy.
"Is those real?" Fergus asked, pointing at Lerael's winggs.
