WHO: Lily and Scorpius
WHEN: Thursday night, after Lily and Lily went drinking
WHERE: Cabin 19, Scorpius' room.
WHAT: Drinking together and who knows
RATING: TBD
STATUS: Incomplete
Lily walked back to the cabin with her grandmother, a lot less drunk than she actually wanted to be. She enjoyed spending time with her namesake, but she wasn't entirely sure how to react to going out drinking with her. Even if Lily wasn't her grandmother yet--and would never actually live to be--she still didn't know if she would act like a grandmother, or even a parent toward her if she started to drink too much.
So once they arrived at the cabin, they parted ways and Lily walked up to the only room Scorpius could possibly be in. It was the room that Uncle Bill had before he got sent home. She leaned against the door frame watching him for a moment a bottle of liquor in one hand and two glasses in the other. Merlin, she had always loved the way he looked. Before she risked getting caught, she composed herself and knocked. "Get rid of the fleas, yet?"
Scorpius had been sitting in the middle of the floor, his cauldron bubbling before him. In the concoction, the fleas floated. He was glad to be rid of the biting, itching bastards. He looked up at the sound of her voice... she had been in his peripheral vision and apparently he had been too absorbed him the potion to notice she was standing there. She was breath-taking - more beautiful then he remembered, He hadn't seen her in much too long and was instantly on his feet.
He gestured to the cauldron. "Thankfully," he said with a smile. "little buggers were biting the shit out of me." He took a step toward her. "Hey Lil." Lame, but he didn't know what else to say.
Lily was grateful that he didn't mention the moments she stood there just watching him. Maybe he hadn't noticed. The last thing she needed was to have to explain why she couldn't stop looking, especially when only one person knew that she liked him and thankfully she was oddly accepting and willing to keep her secret. Maybe Dominique was just relieved that it wasn't Teddy that Lily liked.
"Good," she replied. "I'm not a fan of being bitten." She stepped into the room only after he assured her it was safe, but remained close to the door. Dominique was right, she shouldn't be alone and drunk with him tonight. She wasn't drunk yet--only tipsy--but drunk was her goal. Come on, Lils, you can do this, she had to. She had to get through one night drinking with someone and not end up in bed with them. If only just to prove that she had some level of self-control. "Hey," she said, leaving it at that and offering him one of the empty glasses.
He came over to her and took the glass, setting it down on the dresser. He couldn't help himself... he hadn't seen her in so long and, even if she was upset and bitchy with him like always, he needed this. He needed to be grounded. His world was turned upside down - he was in a new place, he already had enemies based on the fact that he was a Malfoy, his dad was younger than he was, he just found out he was fodder for other peoples' enjoyment. He needed her - she was his constant. So, against his better judgement, he pulled her into a hug. "Please don't be so angry with me," he whispered finally, inhaling the wonderful scent that was Lil.
Lily hadn't been expecting the hug, and she wasn't honestly sure how to react to it, but she finally wrapped her own arms around him to hug him back. It felt amazing. Lily had hugged a lot of guys, hell she had kissed a lot of guys, but she never felt the electrical connection that she felt with Scorpius. If only it went both ways. If only Scorpius could love her back. Not that that would uncomplicate things. Their families hated each other. They could never be together.
That thought brought her back to her senses and she pulled out of the hug. "Why are you so desperate for me to like you?" she asked, wanting to get her mind off the hug and the feelings that came with it. She turned to the dresser, setting her own glass down and busying herself by opening the bottle and pouring some of the liquid into each glass.
Regaining some of his swagger, he snorted. "Desperate? No. Just wondering why you dislike me with such a strong vigor, that's all," he replied, picking up the glass once she had poured it and downing it in one gulp. He really needed a stiff drink after the day he'd had. "Am I really that bad of a person?" He set his glass down and refilled it himself, this time taking only a small swig. He indicated the two chairs he had sitting beside the window... he had done some rearranging and liked having an outside view, so the chairs faced the grounds. However, seeing as how it was dark outside, they wouldn't see much but stars. He walked over to one, glass in one hand and bottle in the other, flopping down into it with a sigh.
Lily lifted the glass to take a drink, but before she could he spoke. She snorted in response and turned to face him again. "Oh let's see," she said giving him a pointed look. "You're an arrogant arse, you think that everyone who isn't in your social class owes you everything, hell I'm technically a pureblood and I'm sure you think that I'm worthless." The last was an assumption, but it wouldn't surprise her. He was the son of Draco Malfoy, after all. She'd heard plenty of stories, and behavior like that was learned.
She followed him, sitting in the chair next to his. Why couldn't she have fallen for someone more simple. She had her pick of guys at Hogwarts, but none of them were ever good enough. They were never him, but she could never have him. It seemed very unfair. She downed her glass, then held her hand out for the bottle.
He looked over at her, arching a brow. "For someone who claims to be non-judgemental, you sure are passing judgement on me based on assumptions," he said before taking another drink. Why did it have to be the one girl he truly cared for who thought he was a git. "Lil, I'll admit it... I was a pompous ass for years. I grew up, though, and my father - and not the teenage version of him who is here - taught me not to be elitist. Just because I picked on you and your brothers didn't mean that I thought you were beneath me. It's called Potters vs Malfoys. Our fathers were rivals, so I felt it only natural to return the favor," he said with a shrug. He had never been this open with her before. She hadn't really given him a chance. All of their conversations were snide and snarky. Granted, he had already been drinking before she came... he needed something to help with the itching.
"You think I don't know about the rivalry?" Lily argued as she took the bottle from him and poured herself another glass. She took a drink before saying anything else. After swallowing, she turned her head to look at him. "Are you honestly trying to tell me you're not the slightest bit arrogant now?" she asked, eyebrow raised. "Go back and read your network post," she told him. He'd sounded awfully arrogant there and that was why she had answered it in the way she had. It would be unlike her to not give a smartass response to something like that.
He shrugged, unashamed. "Lil, it's who I am! I can't help it. But that doesn't mean I am a blood purist and think everyone else is beneath me. I just don't like being subjected to serving food when I know I can do better," he argued, snatching the bottle back and filling his glass to the brim. He chugged it, then refilled, handing the bottle back to her.
"That was only part of your complaint," Lily reminded him as he took the bottle from her. She downed the last of what remained in her glass before pouring the remains of the bottle into her glass. It never lasted long enough. She set the bottle onto the floor, making a mental note to pick it up later. "Sharing a cabin with people? And that was before you knew you were sharing with Potters and Weasleys. Are you more or less disgusted?"
He sighed with frustration. "Look, Lil... it's frustrating to be torn from your world, ok? And then to be told that you have to share a cabin with total strangers - that's never fun! I had to do it once when going to Hogwarts... I didn't want to do it again," he said, pushing out of the chair and nearly stumbling into hers. He regained his composure before walking to his nightstand. He had an additional bottle stashed there and brought it back over. He poured them both another glass, and drank. "I am pleased it's with you guys - I know you. That makes this even better!" He meant it, though she would undoubtedly not believe him.
Lily watched as he stumbled toward her chair, bracing herself for the physical contact that was sure to come, except that it didn't. He caught himself and moved away. She eyed him curiously, not saying anything until he finished filling their glasses. "Even though none of us liked you and someone put fleas in your room?" While Lily had honestly not known about it when Scorpius told her, she knew now who did it, but she wasn't going to rat her out. "You know your father wants you to move in with him... why didn't you agree to it?" By this point, her voice was starting to slur. She noticed it and she didn't really care. Her goal of the night was to get wasted, after all.
