"Very pretty," Lily replied, picking Stefan's ring up to give it a quick look over. It looked like any other ring that one might encounter. Nothing was obviously special about it, but it did feel a little different to her. It was powerful magic, absolutely. She sat it back down and nudged it toward Stefan. She figured he probably wasn't too keen about letting a stranger just handle something so special. She would have felt the same way about her wand. She then picked up the other three rings and inspected them the same way. "The Egyptians used lapis lazuli to make amulets," she said, almost to herself just as much as Stefan. "Hm. It may have more magical properties than the mood ring simply on its own."
Sitting the rings back on the table, Lily reached into her bag and pulled out her notepad and wand. "I had a few ideas of at least where we could start." She waved her wand and one of the glasses from behind the bar floated over to their table and sat itself down in front of Lily. She whispered a few words and waved the wand, then picked up the glass and dropped it on the floor. It didn't shatter. She grinned and raised an eyebrow at Stefan. "I know a few protection charms. I can charm anything from this glass to an entire house. I can also do this. Lumos."
She pointed the wand away from Stefan, just in case the light was too much for him. The end of her wand illuminated in bright light. "Nox." The light extinguished. "I was thinking that if I could find a way to combine the two spells, we might get the same effect as your ring. Kind of like magical sunscreen, if you will." She looked hopefully at the vampire, anxious to be of help.
