WHO: Stefan and Lily
WHEN: Thursday afternoon, after this
WHERE: The Ice Room
WHAT: Trying to work out a spell
RATING: Low
STATUS: Incomplete
Stefan was more than apprehensive. There were so many things that could go wrong with what he was trying to do. At the least, they might not be able to work anything out and Lexi would still be trapped in the darkness. At the worst, the witch might damage his own ring and he'd be forced to keep her company. Still, if it worked, the benefits outweighed the possible risks. He'd be able to make daylight jewellery for Elena when she turned so she didn't have to be stuck in the shadows for the rest of her existence. He loved the way the sun played on her skin. It would be terrible if that couldn't happen any more.
Stefan was sitting at a table in the corner of the Ice Room, rather near the door. The Oompa Loompa hadn't been keen to let him in before opening, but he explained that he was an employee and after a few grumbles he'd been allowed in on the proviso that he didn't cause any problems. He'd managed to negotiate himself a cup of coffee before heading to the table to wait for Lily.
He'd bought four rings with him. Lexi's mood ring was the first in the line he'd laid out on the table. It was the classic liquid crystal setup, set in a silver ring. He doubted it would be any good. His and Damon's rings, Katherine's necklace and Caroline's ring were all made of lapis lazuli. When they'd made Caroline's they'd gone for the safe option and picked a ring made of the stone straight away. They hadn't known how long Bonnie would cooperate for, after all. But Stefan had never understood the daylight rings, so he didn't know whether the quartz in Lexi's ring would work or not. Just in case, he'd bought two lapis lazuli rings he'd ordered online the week before. One was large and ugly and had been quite cheap, probably because no one wanted to buy anything like that. That was for experimentation. The second had been much more expensive. It was the customary blue, set in silver, flanked on either side by blue topaz stones. If Lexi had to wear this ring for the rest of eternity, he didn't mind splashing out on it. He owed her so much, it hardly felt like reward enough.
The fourth ring, Stefan pulled off his finger and placed on the table with the others. It felt strange not to feel it on his finger. He'd be glad when he could put it back on. He just hoped it still worked.
He'd done all he could to prepare for this meeting. Done all the research he could. He knew Katherine had gotten Emily to make his and Damon's rings without them being present, so that obviously wasn't a prerequisit. And he remembered that Bonnie had needed sunlight to make the ring for Caroline, hence his choice of table. There was a window just beside it, covered with a heavy black curtain, but he could just see slivers of light seeping around the edge. If he got out of the way, the witch could pull the curtain back and cover the table with sunlight.
Everything was ready, now all he needed was his new witchy friend. He sipped his coffee, waiting.
