The clock in her office struck yet again reminding her that she really ought to be packing up and heading home. Truthfully the only reason she’d agreed to stay late tonight was that her children were with their grandparents and, as predicted, Edgar was called in for some event happening in Diagon. His first day back on the job after she was able to make sure he was forced to rest and heal and already he was back in some sort of fight. Typical Edgar Bones. Not that she could blame him, she knew it was just who he was. Still, she did that there would eventually be less need (perhaps not zero but less) for him to be out to all hours searching for dark wizards or putting an end to fighting. Sighing as she closed the chart she was documenting on, she put her quill back in it’s holder and began to close up for the night. Typically the clinic didn’t stay open very late at night, but of course their emergency center did, though very rarely was she here this late. She had to admit there was a peace that came with an overnight shift at the center. Fewer patients came in and that led to a lot of catch up on her part with things that needed done. As she stepped outside the clinic doors and began walking down the street toward the alley that led to High Street and her home, Cate looked up at the sky and noted it almost seemed darker tonight. That caused her to look toward the street lamps that were….shattered? Noises became apparent around her and she turned seeing figures appearing out of the darkness through the rows of buildings on every street. What in the name of Merlin was going on? As the thought entered her mind, Cate turned to head back to owl Edgar when she came face to face with someone. Ever the Gryffindor, Cate’s first thought wasn’t to run and hide, rather to stand her ground. Pregnant or not, this was her home. “Lost?” She asked as she pulled her wand from her cloak just in case. She’d never, in truth, faced a death eater but there was something to be said for facing down someone with no face, just a mask. “Perhaps you need someone to show you the way to Azkaban? Look for the dementors, you can't miss them.” |
