As important as it was to adjust to their new environment and time period, it was equally as important to figure out where their targets were, what they did and more importantly how to save them before it was too late. True they had time, months in fact, but he had a feeling it was going to take that long if not more to get the Order to trust them. So while others went off to Diagon Alley to sort out getting things they needed, Harry split off from the group in order to try and locate various places that he knew from their time researching, that the Order was known to frequent. It wasn’t that he didn’t need or want supplies - he did. He’d certainly try and pick them up on his way back to the safe house. But he needed, for the group or maybe more for himself, to figure things out. He already felt as though he’d failed everyone when he'd gone through with Dumbledore’s plan and gotten himself killed only to wake up and find himself defeated before he could do anything to stop it. Wasn’t dying supposed to solve everything? Then how was he defeated? How could he fail everyone? Fail Sirius, Remus, his parents….Dumbledore. The people who died for him? He couldn’t fail them this time. He couldn’t. He had to change history and make up for the fact that he’d made a mess of the future or present time. He wasn’t going to fail Susan either. Somehow he was going to keep Edgar Bones from dying and in kind his family should survive along with him - right? Of course that was easier said than done considering he did come with the reputation of being one of the greatest wizards of his age and a Gryffindor. That always went hand in hand with…...headstrong and unafraid of a challenge. “Maybe I’ll just physically stop him,” Harry muttered to himself. “How hard can it be? Susan’s a bit small. Her family probably follows suit.” That was the thought he was lost in as he walked down a street in Diagon only to pause when he heard the name Bones called out near him. He turned seeing a wizard that was...not small at all. “Brilliant.” He said more to himself than anyone before he turned and paused a few steps away so as not to look weird, his hand moving to his pocket only to pause with an idea. He turned seeing the Wizard who’d greeted Edgar Bones had gone and he cautiously made his way up to the man. “Excuse me,” Harry said as he fought the urge to shout at him as Ron might have. It would have worked mind you but maybe not subtle enough. “Can you tell me how I might find the entrance to the Ministry. I’m supposed to meet an Edgar Bones today to talk about shadowing him to see if I really want to become an Auror.” Lie but necessary. “I’m a little lost, I’m not from around here.” Harry did his best to mimic what he remembered Viktor sounding like though mixed with a bit of English to make up for the ‘Dudley Porter’ bit. |
