It was the same story, just a different setting. Waking up in a different place, and being told everything she knew was wrong. Except this time, no bombs. No nuclear radiation. She'd still panicked of course. the first time, she'd lost everything. It had been 400 some years, and she could still feel what it was like to be helpless and could only watch as Nick had been killed, and Shaun taken. This time, when she'd asked where the hell her son was, they'd just pointed to him. Everything after had been fielding their questions, ensuring this was neither Institute nor Vault Tec.
thath ad been yesterday. Today Shaun had pointed to the green bit in front of where they lived and for a boy who didn't know what tree's actually were? Well she hadn't had it in her to deny him. she'd have to keep people away from him though, less they started to ask questions about her son. It'd be too much. For him and her. Her priority now, always, was Shaun. Keeping him safe. But in between that she could give him what he'd been missing.
Part of it seemed to be letting him play with Dogmeat. the dog barked, Shaun laughed and it was like the war never happened. Except she was still wearing her Courser uniform, and she still had her Pipboy on. Her rifle was in her quarters. For now at least. It was a step, at least. Her fingers toyed with the necklace she wore, where both of the rings now sat. Nick would want her to remember, but not drown in her mourning. Another step. The only ones she could make in a place so different from what she was used to. From what she'd been told, New York was rubble and ashes, just like the other great cities. Seeing it like this...well. it almost felt too good to be true.
But she'd adapted once, she could do it again. If this was a trick, they'd face the woman who had put a mini nuke in Kellogg's face and hadn't lost a wink of sleep over it. If this was for real, she'd work with them. Put her skills and charms to use. She sighed and leaned back, watching her surroundings. Shaun would be safe with Dogmeat. Both had survived the Wastelands, with Raiders, Supermutants and all kinds of monsters lurking just behind the corner. A park wouldn't be any issue for either of them.
