Katie tried to push away the pain that she felt at his words. She knew that he wasn't that man. It was so painfully clear that he wasn't that man. She missed that man more then anything right now.
She couldn't fall into that despair right now though. She wasn't going to let him see that. He wouldn't care either way. She was sure of that. He had all but made it clear. He wouldn't care if she was brooding over her lost life. She didn't want to cry in front of him. Not full out. She wasn't comfortable with that at the moment.
Of course, if she wasn't going to vent that sadness that she felt, there was only one other emotion that she could fall back on.
"I did not even hint to anything in that regard. His mind jumped to that conclusion. Yes, I said things but whatever logic goes through his head, brought it to that. I will not take responsibility for how he thinks."
