Usually, Maria was very perceptive person. She had to be, in both the way she grew up and what she did now for her profession. Little details tended to make up all the difference. However, Blaise looking pas her and gaze shifting didn't really phase her. They were in a city out in public and there were things that caught the attention even for the briefest of moments all the time, even involuntary. So there was no need to think otherwise at the moment. The serious face didn't really throw her either, she was used to seeing that kind of look on his face.
She'd chosen to be with a serious person, and Maria enjoyed that about him. She saw that seriousness as a bit of a grounding agent in her life. That pure honesty that he gave her was something she needed. A constant and a voice she could trust, even if it was just someone to listen and work out logic with her. It gave her another view point to remind her that sometimes she got a little ahead of herself or her fears had gone overboard and needed to come back to reality. But when he started to speak her puzzled expression turned curious and the further he went on her own expression softened and was trying to work out where he was going with this.
Right as she was working out that yes, they did have a solid foundation because of their ups and downs early on, and everything since he started to sink down to his knee and her breath caught in her throat. Her already big brown eyes widened even further, and she could feel her cheeks grow warm that had nothing to do with being out in the sun. "Blaise..." she finally got out as her smile grew on her face, bright and laying all of her emotions bare right there. She was always one to wear her heart on her sleeve to a degree but the sheer amount of surprise and joy was coming off of her right now in waves.
"Yes." Maria could feel a few tears gathering in the corner of her eyes as she nodded. "Yes, please. I would love nothing more." her eyes hadn't even gone down to the ring yet, not leaving his face, making sure that he saw everything right now, before she finally dipped her eyes slightly for a brief moment. The ring was perfect, delicate, simple, but so gorgeous at first glance before bringing her eyes back up to his. "I love you." she was at a loss for words, but those three words seemed to cover it in the moment.
