"Listen," Angie said. "I ain't the one carrying around weapons!" She pushed branches out of her face as they continued to run. "Seems to me that someone who carries a knife has got a reason." Too concerned with figuring out what the hell this guy had done to get a mob after him, she ran face first into a few branches, cutting up her face. Angie didn't even notice until she felt the warm trickles of blood on her cheeks.
Wiping her face, she glanced quickly over her shoulder. They were still following them. And not matter how fast they ran, it seemed like the mob was always close behind them.
Jason grabbed her arm just as she turned back around, keeping her from going over the edge of the ridge. "Wait, slide?" She looked from Jason to the ridge and back again. Well. She could keep up with the big boys; she grew up tough and fighting. "Let's go, then! They're gonna catch up."
