Janis' ongoing smirk suggested that none of this was quite true, or it was all true and she thought it was funny. There was a lot obscured when dealing with her.
She reared up out of her runner's rest, stretching her shoulders back and looking down, around and up for more birds, which were not yet in evidence. You didn't need to run marathons to do Janis' job, and she didn't believe in Zumba.
"If I were a bird I wouldn't want to end up in the grocery store, but that's just me. And you just said they weren't birds, so what the hell do I know." She threw up her arms. "Wait! I know. They're mad because we're hunting eggs."
