Re: #17 - Babs & Gwen
"Yeah, that's him." Babs said, green eyes looking directly forward, through Gwen into a memory and then another. "We used to be on the same team and then I guess he decided it was better to jump ship. And, if he's working security at Area-52, that means the rumors are true. He really is with the League." Maybe it was the hallucinogens, maybe Babs just didn't care, maybe she was pretty sure Gwen was the girl that she was looking for. Whatever the case, Babs decided to go the honesty route.
She looked up at Gwen and shook her head. "If you're one of the girls who escaped, why hasn't he dragged you back into the facility? That doesn't make sense." Babs wanted an answer, she wanted to know that Jason wasn't actually with the League and instead was trying to take them down from the inside without telling any of them. That was more his style, right? It'd make sense and give her some kind of peace of mind. She bit her lip, hopeful that she had figured it out, and then she swore she could hear a war chant coming towards them. Babs turned to look around the rock and when she did, a volley of arrows were shot their way.
"Shit!" Babs got hit with one of them, too distracted from everything to move out of the way fast enough. The arrow was stuck in the meat of her arm and it hurt way more than a bullet. It felt like a dog ripped into her flesh. "Shit, shit." She went to pull the arrow out, but her hand hovered as her body went into very mild shock. Her vision went weird for a second, black blurs around the edges of her line of sight. She took a deep breath and focused. "I'm okay. Can you help me get it out? We need to keep moving. It's getting worse. Whatever this is."
