Re: [No. 3: Iris & Sam]
Sam covered Cris' mouth all the fucking time, but she'd never stopped to think how she might feel if he covered hers. She probs wouldn't mind, yeah? Because it was HIM, but if someone else did it, yeah, ok, she might freak. But that thing, yeah? About not thinking good and not being observant, and she didn't think anything about slamming her hands against Iris' mouth. Fuck, man, she woulda crowded all her fucking fingers between Iris' lips if she thought it would shut her sister up, because those voices sounded so fucking close through the thin trailer walls, and that was like the most important thing.
Then Iris was talking, saying shit that Sam replayed in her own head way too fucking often. She was doing good, yeah? Sam was. She was doing good, and she didn't want this to fuck her sideways, and Iris was like some fucking echo of her own certainties in the dark. She took her sister's shoulders, and she SHOOK. Now, even healthy, Sam wasn't strong or anything. That shaking wasn't enough to hurt Iris, and it wasn't enough to bank her against anything, but it made Sam feel better somehow. "Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up." Quiet. So fucking quiet, and Sam had to press her lips together hard to make herself stop the repetitive pattern. "They don't know SHIT. They're wrong. I'm gonna tell them to GTFO, and then we're finding a phone," she said firm, like she wasn't the baby sister with the PTSD and head damage. But she looked around, and she didn't see a phone, yeah? Near the door now, and she didn't see a fucking phone.
The weight around her hips was unexpected, and that wheezing was worrisome, yeah? But Sam had to fucking focus, because her head was already feeling cotton thick, and she turned to look at her sister. "LISTEN TO ME. I don't see a fucking phone, yeah? In here. And they'll get inside. You gotta let me talk to them, and we gotta try to get to the police station. Ok? So they don't hurt you. We'll be safe there. Ok?" She grabbed Iris' shoulders again, and she tried to stay focused, no panicking, no panicking, and she could handle this shit. She could. "Ok?" They could do this, yeah?
