Re: [No. 3: Iris & Sam]
Sam didn't know about Iris' ability. Sam was so fucking mundane, yeah? It was impossible to be less magical than Sam was, and it never just occurred to her that other people had abilities or anything. Ok, so she wasn't SURPRISED when she heard about that kinda stuff, not anymore, but she just didn't look for it, yeah? Just like it didn't occur to her to think this shit, this MOB, wasn't real. Iris could see it, yeah? That meant it wasn't one of the fucked up things in her head, and it was real, and that was fucking that. Sam didn't question, yeah? She wasn't big on questioning. She walked through life believing the stuff she saw on all sides, and she didn't question what was beneath the surface of anything.
Inside the trailer, she patted her pockets down crazy, looking for her phone. If she could just make a fucking CALL, and maybe the trailer itself had a phone, yeah? Some people still had old type phones. Ok, yeah. She'd look. In a second, when she could move from the safety of the corner wedge. And that was the thing with adrenaline, yeah? Once it ended, then shit went bad. Sam knew she needed to stay ON. She needed to stay ok, because she needed to get Iris out of this fucking misunderstanding. Once everything was cool and ok, THEN she could just hide safe with arms around her. But right now, right now she needed to be fucking strong.
Around them, screams climbed, and Sam could see the lights outside the windows, flashing past as the crowd moved and returned and moved again. Iris laughed, and Sam stopped looking for her missing phone, yeah? She slammed both hands over Iris' mouth and mouthed SHUT UP, even though she knew her own mouth moving wasn't gonna be hella clear in the shadows or anything, but she figured Iris would get the picture. She moved her hands from Iris' mouth in time to let her sister talk, even if that sobbing laughter was completely fucking nuts and WAY too fucking loud. "Who's dead? Who the fuck is dead? Who-"
In the darkness, the color drained from Sam's face. "No, nah, no. That's fucking bullshit. HE did what he did. NOT YOU." Because, ok, maybe Iris had fucked with HER life and HER head, but that was Sam's thing to feel, yeah? And, anyway, SAM HAD LET HIM, and it wasn't for a mob to fucking fix or anything, and Sam pushed away from that corner with a new fucking determination. "I'm gonna tell them. They can't fuck with you over this shit. No fucking way. I won't fucking let them."
