Re: [No. 3: Iris & Sam]
If Sam knew her mere presence fucked her sister up so much, then she woulda left Iris alone. But Iris never actually said that, and no one told Sam that, so Sam kept bulldozing on and laboring under the assumption that all family did better together, yeah? It was something she was raised with, and it was something she believed way the fuck down in her bones. It was the reason she'd forgiven Iris the whole fucking mess with Ian, yeah? Because family helped each other, and Iris musta been hella fucked up for that shit to have even happened. So, yeah, Sam didn't know. She didn't realize Iris was all fucked up and skinny as willow reeds because of HER.
And in that moment, she cursed whatever DID have Iris being so weak, yeah? Because no fucking way were they gonna be able to put any space between themselves and that crowd. The trailers were their best fucking chance, but Sam thought even that was fucked when Iris went down. Sam slammed at whatever she could touch, flailing arms and hands that yanked Iris away and toward her. And she was surprised, yeah? Hella fucking surprised when Iris kicked something hard enough to crack. And even in the middle of this bullshit, Sam let out a proud HOOT. Because that shit was awesome.
But, yeah, Sam had seen the weapons, and she was trying not to think about them, because she couldn't freeze up NOW. The fuckers would kill Iris, yeah? They would kill Iris, and Sam wasn't gonna let that shit happen.
Iris said to GO, and Sam yanked her with her. She didn't give a shit if Iris was slow, yeah? Sam wove through the trailers, and she circled back to that darkened trailer with the easy lock. Easy enough to kick in with her Docs, and she yanked Iris in and closed the fucking door, bolted it, and pulled her sister into a moldy and dingy back room, the whole fucking place dark and smelling like pot and fucking. Sam, on autopilot now, dragged Iris into the corner, because corners always felt safest to Sam when Cris wasn't around. Outside, the mob banged at the door, banged at the walls, banged at the adjacent trailers. Sam caught her breath as much as she could, and she turned her face toward Iris in the dark. "WHY are they after you!??"
