[log: Dietre & Caleb]
Who: Dietre Abendroth and Caleb Rhodes.
What: Piano and a movie.
Where: Adrian’s house.
When: Time fuzzy recently.
Warnings/Rating: Low/TBD?
Inviting Caleb to listen to him play the piano wasn’t about getting his attention. Dietre did not like attention (well, most people’s attention.) No, it was about sharing his love of music. He knew that once he was at the keys he would be at ease in his element, until then, he was a nervous wreck. There was no need to be, their first meeting went well, and they had been open with each other in their last conversation, yet that didn’t change the facts. And the fact was that it took quite a lot of self reserve to keep from pouring himself a glass or two of wine to steady those nerves. It was one thing to have a visitor at his own little house at the carnival, but this was Adrian’s place, and no matter how many times the other man told him it was equally his home Dietre would always worry he’d be stepping on toes. Dressed in a midnight blue cable knit sweater over a light blue gray collared shirt and dark pants, he toed the line between formal and semi-casual as he aimlessly roamed about rearranging things on tables and cleaning what didn’t need to be cleaned. Sieglinde followed him from room to room, sensing something was going on and unable to keep her nose out of things. After his experience on Halloween, Dietre was eager to spend some time with a man who wasn’t going to try to kill him at the end of the evening. It had been wonderful to be that other version of himself, he had felt so free. He tried to summon up what he could remember of that feeling as he peeked out the window at the sound of an approaching car, but the butterflies in his stomach fluttered so that it was impossible. He just wasn’t that other him. A deep breath and a sigh, and he moved to the door to welcome Caleb in. Sieglinde beat him there, so that the first thing Caleb would see was a dark muzzle desperately trying to squeeze through the gap and a great pink tongue ready to start licking as the dog happily barked in greeting. “Don’t mind her,” Dietre said in lieu of a hello. “She won’t jump on you, just push your way in.” He sounded a bit exasperated as he tried to hold both her collar and the door at the same time, but he could never get mad at that dog. Besides, her antics had a way of breaking the ice. |
