Joey grinned a little. "Hey, credit where credit's due," she replied. Joey got back to her feet, then, because she supposed that she'd done all that she could so far for him and there were a ton of other people she needed to see as soon as possible.
His comment caught her off-guard, though and Joey looked back at him, blinking rapidly, thrown off her professional demeanor. She sputtered uselessly for a second, face going red, before she finally managed, "I meant...the, I mean, um...you know, your...fever. I'm shutting up now," she babbled awkwardly, face burning behind the cloth tied over her mouth and nose.
"I..." she started and stopped and then opened her mouth to speak again before closing it and pressing her lips together to buy herself a few precious seconds to formulate words. Because, well, he was an attractive guy and attractive guys didn't pay attention to her. Ever. "...yeah," she finally managed, looking caught between sheepish and apologetic. "I'll be back, though, um...like I said. ...you know...before. Like I said before, I mean...I'll, um...be back in a little while. You just...uh, rest. Okay? I have my journal on me if you need anything," she forced out with about as much grace as a fish out of water flopping around on a dock. "...okay, bye," she added quickly, wide-eyed with her own embarrassment and she headed to the door.
