With a soft huff, Joey shook her head. "Good to know," she replied. He looked probably as exhausted as he felt, she thought to herself with a frown. Normally, she would've done some checking for swollen glands to be sure that his illness was leaning toward mono, but she didn't even have to, which was fairly concerning in and of itself.
Her brow was creased with sympathy and concentration as she listened to him respond to her question. "Well, they are supposedly trying to make us help them develop a cure for something, so...I wish the idea of that surprised me more, but...it doesn't," she sighed. "All right, I have some foxglove which should help with the swelling, so let's start there."
Joey separated the small dosage that Angelika had shown her when she'd first explained how to use some of the remedies. "I'll give you this, you have to eat it because that's kind of all I can do right now without the kind of tools to grind it and package it into pills. You also need to tell me if you notice that you have to use the bathroom a lot or if you start to get the shakes. Those are bad signs. The problem with this stuff is that we have to eyeball the dosage so, I'm looking at your size and hoping that this is enough because I'd rather it be not enough than too much," she explained, handing him the three small, purple flowers.
