Adelaide immediately feels foolish, caught sitting here like a mess and making the poor delivery girl think she's half mad, at least. The blonde looks so horrified that even Adelaide feels a bit bad, and so she eases the bassinet gently out from in front of her, tries for a droll and watery smile, and lightly swipes fingertips over her cheeks.
"I'm sorry, honey," she says, reaching out to accept the gifts. "Just seems like a terrible idea, letting this little guy out into the world, doesn't it?" That still seems too heavy, and so she takes the top off of the chocolates, shakes her head. "You're gonna have to eat a few of these with me so I don't feel like a monster getting the whole box. Men are absurd."
