Who: Nina Clarke & Archer Avery
When: August 14, late evening
Where: Capitol kitchens
What: A really really awkward run-in
Nina had a decent supply of food staples in her apartment, but sometimes you just had to give in to a craving. And tonight she was craving sugar, plain and simple -- cookies, specifically, but she'd take whatever she could find. She didn't typically keep sweets in her apartment, so instead of retiring to bed this evening she found herself making her way through the Capitol towards the kitchen.
As soon as she set foot inside, though, she wished she had chosen to come down even just a half hour earlier or later than she had. Archer Avery was already there, and ever since she'd been asked about James Hawkins she'd been wary of all things police.
She'd told Demi that she was starting to become borderline paranoid, but really -- could anyone blame her? Nina knew full well that anyone suspected of having even the faintest of ties to the Hellhounds could be subjected to arrest. She couldn't believe that she was now one of those people.
There was no way to be sure that Archer knew about what his men were up to, but she did think all signs pointed towards him being aware. After all, was it at all possible that the men who'd talked to her would go behind their chief's back? She wouldn't do that, if it were her in their position, but that wasn't a guarantee for anyone else.
"Oh. Hello." Nina gave the man a cool, polite smile and forced herself to stay put, even though her instincts were telling her to find a different spot for her late night snack. "I see we both have the same idea tonight."
